Did you know?
You can speed ValuesJam. Just set a time limit for each person to answer and choose how many questions to use.
We are finding that ValuesJammers often connect a number of ValuesJam cards together when playing. For example when ValuesJamming about Well-being you might also want to talk about Balance, Health, Connection with Nature, Gratitude, Love.
Which ValuesJam cards do you associate with each other?
Calling all coaches
For our ValuesJam Guest Session Series we would love to ValuesJam with a practising professional coach or facilitator. Are you/do you know a coach/facilitator who will be inspired by the ValuesJam concept and enjoy taking part in a session to feature on the ValuesJam Youtube channel?
Values Jammer in the Spotlight
Joanne Young
Who are you?
My name is Joanne and I am an individual who wants to see real generative attention and listening brought back into society. I have 3 children who are starting and finishing off at University, a mad black Lab, a cat that thinks it’s a dog and a partner who is supportive and keeps me grounded. I am about to go back to playing hockey ‘again’ as there is nothing better than playing in a team who knows what they are supposed to do! (Albeit I am now considered the ‘experienced one’ ie. old!)
What are your core values?
Fairness, Equality, Difference and Humility.
Why did you join the ValuesJam community?
It intrigues me and makes me curious as to where people will go with their thinking, when in a dialogue. I’ve realised over the years and with the Thinking Environment (Nancy Kline) that I help bring to others and myself to be much more attentive and self-aware. I have only joined the ValuesJam community recently but it has already started bringing a richness to my thinking.
How are you using your ValuesJam card decks?
This is still new to me and I have only asked the Deck questions to myself but I realise how it triggers the thinking especially when there were words I was using but not really thinking about their meaning.
Fave rock n roll moment of magic from a ValuesJam session?
The energy it creates.
How could more WELL-BEING improve the world?
I am an Occupational Health Advisor, Time to Think Coach, and facilitator which brings me into the world of wellbeing. In my opinion wellbeing has helped numerous individuals and is certainly needed but I do believe it is more of a sticking plaster and we are not getting down to the root cause.
To allow individuals to recognise their own values and to teach people to think for themselves, not interrupt and to listen with full attention will help bring about general awareness and self-awareness. The benefit will mean communication both verbally and non-verbally will be picked up before there is a need to bring in the reactive steps of ‘Wellbeing’.
